Background: 2400 m2 plot in a flat land with a north strong wind. The clients, a couple with three children and his own families, wanted a house where mainly will live they but in some periods all family will meet. They wanted a ground floor building with large windows to the south, easy connection indoor to the garden, solar energy system for heating and hot water and three parking spaces.
Solution Adopted: With regards to the functional aspect, this is a house formed by a central body containing a kitchen, a living-dining room, an en-suite bedroom, a WC and a study that can all function independently. When there are more people in the house, it can be extended by opening sliding doors along the east and west ends, with more bedrooms and another living area. Connected to this central nucleus there is a services zone and a garage.
Opening towards the south and the garden, the house is protected from the strong winds of the Tramontana. This ideal orientation, along with the placement of large windows oriented south, reduces the use of winter heating to a minimum. Solar energy is used for the generation of hot water for washing and heating needs.
Concept: This project forms part of research into processes based on chance to generate form. Here, we have specifically used collages of images of different types of destruction and their later reading to uncover the lines that would make up the drawing of the house. The irregular forms generated create differentiated spaces where each individual may find his or her personal space.
